In September of 2002, Brazilian skating advocate and instructor Tuca Reichert brought her team of adult recreational skaters to the New York City Skate Marathon in Prospect Park. The skaters are from the City of Brazilia, which is the capital of Brazil. In 2001 Tuca's team skated the Northshore Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota, and in 2002 they decided to try the New York City Marathon.
